Takes the cake

quite literally, when we brought a birthday cake for our good friend Lauren, who has worked the coat check at the Oxwood ever since it opened.  She is always smiling and dancing and so full of life, that she makes a bad night good and good one better, so it was nice to be able play a small part in making her night better for a change.

My friend Christy Girlington, of the Chanel Twius joined us for a change,  making one of her rare Oxwood appearances.  She's been one of my best friends forever and is wild and fun, so her being there was icing on the cake :)

The Best of times...

the worst of timers :)  after a really fun nite at the Palms, where I was too busy enjoying myself to get a picture, I decided to take a quick timer one afterwards, with predictable, laughable results of a suitcase in the frame, bad lighting, poor focus and best of all, someone walking in right when the picture was taken :)

One of the best things about being in the LA scene is its strong connection  to Latin culture, and its different tastes and tempos and temperaments.  It also has so many beautiful  Latinas, including my friends Linda and Jennessia, who are at the Palms most weeks. RIP Hollie Stevens

I've done several posts on here about my friend Hollie Steven and her courageous  battle against breast cancer.  And I'm now devastated to have to say that she just passed away this week, at only 30.  I can't and won't say that cancer won, or that she lost this battle.  That would be a total disservice to all her incredible strength and bravery and  spirit.   She just ran out of time.  Please help others still in this fight to have the time needed to fully and finally win it, for Hollie, by donating in her memory to her chosen charities: The Shanti Project or The American Cancer Society
